STATEMENT ABOUT JESSE CURRY Responding to an acqusation from the Central Committee leadership regarding Jesse Curry and the fact that this group does not endorse him for Central Committee or any other public office. This group does not consider anyone's sexual preferences or disposition when determining whether a candiate should get our endorsement. Rather we focus on that persons qualifications and track record. We found Jesse Curry to possess no skills or real interest in furthering the Democratic cause or help other Democrats get elected other than himself. He abandoned the newly formed Young Dems group and buddied up to the new party chair and now hopes that will carry him through the primary. Our endorsement for his precinct will not go to Mr. Curry and it is NOT due his gay lifestyle, it is due to his lack of qualifications. We support gay issues and work closely with groups such as the Central Ohio Stonewall Democrats. For Circleville 2-C we endorse Elaine "Lainey " Ebright. Local business woman, community activist, and all around good Dem. ![]() Dems executive members attend Fayette County Democratic Party President's Day dinner

For more information see http://www.connerforus.com/ Are you sick and tired of the same 'ol politicians in Congress who bows down to the Republicans, lobbyists, and special interests? Check out this u tube video to remind us what this country really stands for! Proud to be part of the Turn Around Ohio Team Exactly one week after the 2004 November election a group of dedicated volunteers met to discuss what could be done at a local level to help take our country back... out of this meeting arose this grass roots organization dedicated to helping get Democrats elected statewide. 2010 Primary Endorsements Coming soon ![]() Democrats represent the working class BROWNBAGGER ![]() Right Wingers represent the elitist TEA BAGGERS ![]() Meeting with the Fairfield County Democratic Central Committee
![]() We very much appreciate the warm welcome and friendly hospitality from the Central Committee and Democrats in Fairfield county! ELECTION OF OFFICERS 2010 President - Sherry Veazey Vice President - Nancy Shollenberger Secretary - Carol Cole Treasurer - Jake Huber Sgt. At Arms - Marsh Barnes TRUSTEES Louise Adkins Tom Brownfield Jackie Rose Reprinted with permission from the author: burgessbytes – Massachusetts a Poor Test January 20, 2010 Senate Loss Analysis Overlooks Mass. Insurance Plan: Bam! No doubt about it, the loss of the “Kennedy seat” in Massachusetts was a blow to Democrats and the Obama/Reid health care plan. But one very obvious difference between Massachusetts and the rest of the nation—overlooked by most of the press— MASSACHUSETTS ALREADY HAS A STATEWIDE PLAN, not totally different than what Senate Democrats are proposing. So as weak as the Reid plan is, the people of Massachusetts basically already have it. This takes away most of the value of the issue Democrats might otherwise have used, that Democrats were developing a health care plan that would cover almost everyone. And for those who don’t like the plan they are forced to buy in Massachusetts , the Senate plan doesn’t offer any relief. It may make matters worse. Or it may raise the specter of having to wrestle with yet a new health care mandate, so soon after adjusting to the state plan. Move to the “Right”? Or is that the Problem? Move to the right or center, is the advice being pushed on the Democrats by the mainstream press and self-appointed experts. Yet recent history has shown that when Obama and the Democrats extend a hand to the Republicans, the Grand Old Party just bites it. The Republicans have vowed to defeat Obama any way they can. They will not cooperate, so the Democratic leaders have to find the votes to get things done without Republican help. One way would be to work to end the filibuster. This ancient ruse has derailed progressive legislation for the last century, as “conservative” Senators have banded together to stop, first all civil rights legislation, and in recent years health care legislation and other progressive measures. Motivating the base is what the Democratic leaders need to do. That can’t be done by ignoring what the base—and most of the American people---want. For instance, most Americans, as shown in polls, want a stronger federal government role in health care. Many prefer a single-payer approach, while others favor the public option. Single payer was ignored by the leadership, and the public option was abandoned early in the fight. This left Democratic activists—along with millions of ordinary Americans who agreed with the public approach—with not much to cheer about or work for. The Republicans have used inflammatory rhetoric by their media minions, quirky Sarah Palin, and the tea baggers to generate enthusiasm, while the Democrats have been treated to luke warm rhetorical pabulum. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are also a drag on Democratic enthusiasm. True, Obama said in the campaign that he would send more troops to Afghanistan , but progressives and liberals hoped it would be a short, small surge, not a years-long, major commitment to more war. Troops have not come home from Iraq , and more are going to Afghanistan , and it’s not good news for those who want peace. Further, Obama has stepped up the use of unmanned drones, killing terrorists and civilians alike. Lots of Americans don’t support that. It’s hard for Democratic activists to get up in the morning and go to work each day for more war and a maybe-milquetoast health care plan. It’s time for the Democrats in charge to get back to basics. Stand up for the majority of American people. Then they’ll vote for you. ![]() We thank the Democratic City Council candidates for their efforts to help out their community. Congratulations to Todd Brady and Phil Salyers for their successful run. ![]() From left to right .... Wendell Webb, Phil Salyers, Don Greeno, Todd Brady, and Joe Carrel. To find out more about these candidates go to the City candidates page. BOOKS BEHIND BARS PROGRAM 2010 ![]() Our group is in need of used paperback books that we mail to inmates in the county jail and Orient. We believe that helps them to keep their sanity, stimulates their reasoning skills so that they will come out a better citizen than when they went in. We also could use any used padded envelopes to mail these with too. We just label over top of any addresses or writing. No sexual or violent content books allowed, they are checked by the corrections officers before passed onto the inmates. We really need books geared toward men, all they have to chose from with the books in the book cart the jail provides is romance books. Loose leaf paper and pencils with no erasers are needed too. Any book donation would be appreciated and can be picked up locally. The Pickaway Dems staff HUGE thanks to the Friends of the Library for their recent paperbook donation to the Books behind bars program! ![]() Rest in peace Teddy
Tomorrow, as Senator Kennedy said, "...the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die." ![]() HELP THOSE IN CRISIS We are collecting items for Haven House (the battered womens/family shelter) Any kind of personal care products i.e, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes etc. Some new items for the kids there to pass time like board games and puzzles. As most of you know, we have always been active in helping out local charities and good causes whenever possible and have sponsored many events through President Obama’s Service corps. From food banks, Toys for Tots, blood drives, litter pick up through the Adopt A Highway program, children’s charities, school events, Humane Society, to adopting a family during the holidays. We work with the local High School Government teachers in providing students an avenue to work off their Government credits and to satisfy their community service requirements. We host a Young Pickaway Dems group as well as the Donkey Club kids, who remains the youngest Dems group in the state. We have had the privilege of working for and with many honorable Democratic candidates throughout the state. As well as forging alliances with other grass roots Democratic organizations in the area. We welcome the new members to our group and honor our original founding members for their continued participation and support. I look forward to working with the Democratic leadership, City candidates, and you our valued members to help elect good Democrats to office this spring. Democratically yours Sherry Veazey ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ![]() ![]() Pickaway Dems members participate in anti-war display once again.
